Just a thought about Gary's problem. I'm not familiar with eMates, per se,
but I remember someone saying that the eMate can be shut down by closing the
lid. Perhaps the switch in the lid/hinge is malfunctioning (is grounding
out, has a crimped wire, or something) that is causing the unit to think the
lid is actually closed (when it's really open).
