Battery voltage. I've kinda lost the thread path but here goes. Re the
kitchen sink water pressure concept, a single drop of water can have the
full pressure making it seem that there is ample water 'energy", however it
would be instantly drop to zero as the one drop escaped.
Re the flash vs clock theme. A camera flash is a sudden demand for energy
and so the internal flow of electrons through the active mass must take
place at that rate. The current carrying capacity of the elctrode mass
(MnO2 + C + KOH) is limited which is why the carbon is added. During
repeated sudden discharges, the MnO2 is depleted nearest the anode which
limits further high-current capacity (fewer elctrons available) but has
much less effect on low current demand (clocks).
