You can let MP2X00 to know what batteries are being used in order to get
correct power prediction and best battery performance. All you need is the
SoftCharge package (http://www.logictools.de/ - source code included) that
allows you to choose current battery type in Preferences
(alkaline/NiMh/NiCd/LiIon). I don't have the original battery pack for my
Newton, I'm switching NiMh with alkalines (while NiMh are being recharged
externally) and SoftCharge helps to avoid unexpected power draws.

My previous solution for MP120: tape your rechargeable batteries together to
press the switch in battery tray and make your Newt to charge them for you.
