>>1. I have one of the rechargable battery packs that came with my Newton
100,

>for Newton? if you know (OR IF IT IS YOU!) let me know please...

The recharging part is something you'd do yourself. I assume you mean
"replacing",
this is for example done by NewtonOz. You'll find his email address in about

every digest for the last 6 months. However, he is notoriously slow when it
comes to answering emails as he's basically a one man company, so better
call him.

>2. Does anyone know of an alternative way to power the old Newton 100's w/
>rechargable power?? What about rechargable AAA Batteries? And if so, do I
>need 2 take 'em out of the Newton to recharge them, OR can I just leave 'em

>in and plug up the Newton???

You could

a) Buy 2 sets of NiMH AAA size rechargeables and charge them outside the
Newton
   with a good charger.
b) Charge them within the Newton if you manually trick the MP into believing
rechargeables are installed by pressing down the switch in the battery
compartment that is otherwise pressed by the rechargeables pack.

a is the better solution, but as the MP will think alkalines are installed
the
reported capacity will be wrong (not a problem) and the battery low warning
will
come too late (very annoying). I think there are packages out there that
let you set the level when the battery low warning occurs, but I don't know
any
for Newton OS 1.x. Options by SBM is definitely for 2.0 / 2.1 only.

Thinking of it, there's still another way. For the old Newtons there used to
be
something that was called power adapter or something. Basically it was a
case
that can hold 8 AA size batteries which was connected to the MP's power
connector.
Occasionally these things surface at Ebay, but maybe someone on this list
still
has one lying around. If you take one of those and put 8 AA size NiMH
rechargeables
in, you should have approximately 20 times the capacity of the original MP
100
pack. Most likely, AA size NiMH batteries will also be cheaper than AAA size
ones.

Best
