When did you buy the modem and how fast is it. If it's a recent 56k one,
there was somebody on the list not so long ago that mentioned that the
chipset they use in the latest Option modems apparently isn't compatible
with the Newton anymore.
What you could try first is see if it faxes without a problem, if it does
it's very likely that it's just a driver problem and in that case
ModemModifier should be able to help you out.
