Since NPDS uses NIE to do iots communications, your Newton has to be
online (either via modem or Ethernet) as in "on the 'Net" for you to
communicate with it. The only way to do serial would to somehow make a
PPP connection over the serial cable: this can be done with Linux and NT
for Internet sharing purposes, I don't know about Win95 or 98.
