Basically, you will need a system patch AFAIK. I know no other way to
change the sound.

It mayt be possible for to make a package wich would change the
password input picture, though. (in fact, it would mean changing the
password entry view), or change the startup screen after the initial
one had been displayed. (there is the eclipse easter egg, too).
