For sure the consumption right now is a little bit too high, but some progress
have been done by Cambridge siliconRadio and others company (definitively not
Philips : ridiculus consumption ! ) anyway there are some simplification due to
the profile that could be used by a PDA device, some work are on the way
concerning profile creation (cf Nokia). Anyway the integrated antenna is
definitevely not a real problem, even including a GSM/DCS/PCS or PDC-PDC1500-PHS
antenna on board. size wised we speak about a complete volume of 20mm x 20
mm x 2-3 mm for the chipset and 35mm x 35mm x 7-8mm for the multimode antenna !
with a cost of less than 5$ => chipset + antenna
We have also to take into account some new hardware technology that use lower
power than the newton does => longer battery time life - with better battery
type !!!
so bluetooth is not for tomorrow but could be for the day after over Newton !
