NTLK A Newtoneer In Palm Land Day 1

O,k

First things first, I needed to install the Palm software on my Mac at home and the PC at work. The Mac install went fine without any worries but the PC version is proving tricky under Win 98. I think a newer version of the Palm utilities might be the order of the day.

As a result today hasn't been too productive, I'm going to pull the latest backup from my Newt on to the Palm and take it from there.
The Palm feels truly tiny but then most things feel small in comparison to a 2100. The Palm is a relatively old "Professional" model.
Build quality feels a little tacky but the screen has a nice "abrasive" feel to it. I reckon it could take more hammer than a Newton in that respect but only time will tell in that case.
As for Grafitti, I've never used it before. I think given time though I could get used to it. It is definitely a viable writing language. Although for now I am using the built in Keyboard a lot. It's easy enough to use like the Newton equivalent.
I hotsynched up to my Mac tonight, a flawless process and an undoubted Palm strength. Into the cradle, hit the button and away you go. A shame the Newton never got the feature it could have made a big difference.
My first grip about the Palm was the alarm, almost inaudiable. The Newton alarm volume aint great but the Palm version is dire. I will go looking for something to improve it tomorrow.
More from me then...
Cheers
Adi
