Re: NTLK Sattelite/Cell Phone MP130?

Well, I've never hooked up a 130 to a satellite phone,
but I have sucessfully hooked up a satellite phone to
a 2000!
I used a rented Planet1 satellite phone and some
custom cables. The Planet1 Satellite phone has a built
in modem, but you are limited to 2400 baud! (yup,
That's all it could do...you can get a phone that is
faster, but it is more expensive)

You can rent the satellite phone from InTouch USA
(www.intouchusa.com) but let me warn you, it's
expensive! Both in the rental and in the airtime! (I
think it's at www.intouchusa.com/planet1.html)

Now, if you're going to use a cell phone, well, you
still have to rent it (again, go to
www.intouchusa.com) and the airtime is also
expensive...and you are limited to about 9600baud (and
that is if they even have data services turned on in
the country you are in) I've never had any success in
connecting a Newt to a digital phone. I believe that
Sagem makes a GSM phone with a built in modem that has
a serial cable that you can adapt to the Newt...(you
would use the serial port on the Newt)
Again, call InTouch USA for this...
Tell Lynn that Ed sent you!
