be worth a lot to many, many people. I realize that there are engineering
and programmatic hurdles to climb over, but even if there was a moderate
performance hit to the emulation environment, being able to run PalmOS
under NewtonOS would be like being able to run Virtual PC on my Mac.
Does this really seem that far fetched? The StrongArm chip in the Newton
is RISC-based and has plenty of horsepower under the hood. Existing Palm
emulators that run on Windows and Mac platforms are small and fast...
CoPilot runs on a 68K mac for goodness sake!
Simply, building a Palm emulator helps extend the existence of the
Newton. Whether or not we could live without this particular product, the
more new projects and software that are developed for our little green
platform - the better! I know of a pile of people who would switch to
using a Newton if this became reality - damn the form factor!
