It really contains all sort of things, that would be too long to enumerate here.
System globals and preferences, application globals and preferences, and a few
other things. Basically, if you restore without the system soup, you would have
to reconfigure everything, from your handwriting preferences to your POP3 mail
server, while having to register most applications and set your preferences for
those applications. It may sound like a daunting task, but don't forget that
your system soup became what it is after *YOU* did input those information. The
dauntinig part is maybe having to re-enter those information all at once, where
you took maybe years to come with the current system soup you have.
