Yes, but...

I found my eMate 200% more useable after the upgrade. Things open and
close much more quickly, I don't have to stare at the "thinking Newton
symbol" as much, longer documents didn't slow it to a crawl.

It's still usable without the upgrade, but it's much more fun to use with it.
