Well, the large collection could never recoup the cash I layed out so I
found a use in a non-profit that I'm affliated with. I've set up the
officers with Newts and basic apps to stay in contact and up to date with
their info. There weren't enough MPs for this group's needs so I had to
spend some time and money buying up 2000s and 2100s for several months.
There's a few other people on the list that I've purchased from as well. The
group has generally responded favorably to the Newts. Not all are using them
to the same degree but I think they're all using them for dates and
contacts. One of them is geeked about showing power-point presentations with
EZ-show products so I've been spending some time with him lately. Pretty
enthused.

As for Tibet, Russell wouldn't allow me to sell the codes but did promise
that he would send me the Agfa camera that he had since I lacked a camera
that Tibet could talk to. (The last time he wrote me he said that he
couldn't find it and they were moving and that his wife was due to deliver
twins soon. I can sympathize with his situation having twins myself. But
I've given up on the Agfa, I don't think he ever found it.) I do have a
Nikon N990 that has a USB connection. A couple of weeks ago I received a
cable from Nikon that allows the camera to connect to a Mac with the old
style serial port. It was very exciting to marry the 990 to the Newton. It
nearly brought tears to my eyes. These two devices SHOULD be connected.

I had spent some time with a friend's N900 and of course had success
downloading and emailing images from his camera. Then I tried inserting a
card from my 990 into his 900. His camera could display my images in PLAY
mode. Wow, there's hope! But, when I tried to download the images from my
990's card inserted into his 900, Tibet displayed an error message
indicating the camera isn't turned on.

So when the new cable arrived, "this is it" I thought. Finally photos from
my 990 on my Newton! But no matter what settings I tried, I could never get
anything from my camera to be recognized. Well, at least I connect the
camera to my non-USB computer.

So I'm still stuck with the most expensive registration for Newton software
I've ever heard of, no way to recover the costs, no camera to use it with,
and today you tell me that Russell is emailing the serials to people for no
charge. Oh well, what can you do?

I must admit I've had a good birthday today anyways!

cheers,

ken Whitcomb
