Yes. It's basically the idea.

Now, to answer specifically to Steve's question, I'm currently
working on a new release of the ATA Support package, it indeed was
months since I hadn't made changes to the project.

It hasn't been done before simply because as usual, I am seriously
lacking of time and I have tons of projects open, people asking for
help, requesting me to fix their software (for example to write the
remove script for hacks they're working on), to fix bugs I left here
or there (like the serial/socket code in Waba), or to implement
dozens of features they would love to see.

Besides, I can't program 24 hours a day and my hard drive (where all
my development stuff are, and basically, the only computer hardware I
own in addition to my Newton and the accessories) died recently. It
took several weeks to get it replaced.

Sorry for the inconvenience. BTW, the 0.1a2 version of the driver is
full of bugs. Don't use it to store data. You've been warned. There
will be no way to get your data back, and in fact, I think I'll force
the Newton stores formatted with it to be reformatted with 0.1a3 to
be sure to start on a new basis. (besides, the format will very
likely change to improve performances).
