Hi Kolla,

BE CAREFUL using a 3rd party power supply!!!!
I ripped my MP2k1 doing so 2 months ago ;-(((

FIRST: Do not believe what is written on your power supply -> measure it before connecting it to your Newt!
The output voltage at loads less then 1.3 Amps will probably be much higher !!

In fact the power supply should have both, a voltage regulation and a current limitation:
the voltage regulation to prevent output voltages higher than 7.5 Volts and the current limitation to bring the voltage down in case the current comes near to 1 Amps. The power supply shall not have a foldback behaviour.

I have no problem using a laboratory power supply, correctly adjusted to 7 Volts and 1 Amps.
But keep your hands off a power supply you do not know exactly the behaviour.
You risk the life of your Newt!
Normally the complete logic board will be damaged, only display and plugged in memory cards may survive...

Regards from a Newton user with very bad experiences regarding the use of unknown power supplies.

Johannes

Betreff: [NTLK] power supply for NE2000

The other day I bought a power supply with output 6V 1300mA.
Any reason why this shouldnt work? I read on the info-newt that people
have friend their newtons using 3rd party power supplies, but I thought
that a device would not pull any more power than what it needs, ie that
the power supply above is capable of pulling 1.3A, if the device pulls
that much. On the back of the newton it says 7.5V max 1.2A.
