Oh, no no no. People working on back-end-y computers like web and
database servers can spend all day every day using terminal apps to
telnet / console / ssh into their machines. Ditto networking folks that
work with routers, switches, and firewalls. If anything, the need for
such things is growing at the same rate as the Internet itself.

And, to keep this roughly on-topic, I'm using minicom, a Linux-based
terminal app, to debug some Sloup work I'm doing, as well as work on
sniffing around the actual docking protocol etc that the Newt uses.

Terminal apps are da bomb. They're just not how we get our email,
anymore.
