hi alex
i have the same card and got the same error as you when i first put it=20=
in.. almost gave me a heart-attack cuz i thought the card was bad :)
turns out that i had forgotten to install the 3com driver addon to the=20=
farallon card-driver... you need to download and install:
http://www.chuma.org/newton/ethernet/3comaddon.pkg
check this site for more info (excellent site - maintained by victor):
http://www.chuma.org/newton/ethernet/
once you have the 3comaddon installed, when you insert the card, you=20
won't get any auto-slip popping up, but it should work ok when you try=20=
to connect.
good luck and cheers,
nitin

Hello guys,
I just received a 3com PCMCIA Etherlink Lan PC Card (3c589d-tp) from
Computer-Show but it doesnt work!!! ;-(
I got a error message (-61001) when I insert this card. I saw this error=20=
in
"http://guelph.unna.org/errors/" and there I knew that this is a driver
error. But i have the "3com 3C589D PC Card" driver in my Newton 2100 (I=20=
got
the driver at UNNA.ORG), NIE Ethernet, Newton Devices and etc.
Thanks a lot for ANY help...
