Alright, just to feed the fire...
A friend of mine works with a bunch of folks who are tight with the
QuickTime engineering team over at Apple. He also knows the ex-QuickTime
evangelist very well, and this guy has moved on to other "secret
projects" within Apple. Some of the rumor-licious tidbits he has passed
along are hints that a future iPod device will be a combination PDA ,
QuickTime player, and email device. It's also reported that a bunch of
engineers from the old Newton group worked directly on the internal
workings of the iPod.
I'd take this with a hefty grain of salt... but really, stranger things
have happened.
