I do not know the answer to your questions about keyboard or motherboard
problem.

Maybe opening the keyboard and cleaning it will help (can be a though job).

BUT: I am also interested in a broken emate for the use of the flat cable
that goes from the motherboard to the screen (mine has two holes in it
because it got stuck in the spring from the lid).

So, if you can not repair it, I would like to buy that part from you.
Or if you can find another broken emate, I'm willing to pay for that part.

So far, I did not have any luck (apple, other suppliers, auctions)
