Two complaints, I think I can solve. I use a 130, so am familiar with your
woes. :-)

Get Tasklist by SBM. It creates an invisible button above the Names silk,
that allows quick menu-based switching between apps. Use it extensively. :-)

I forgot about this utility in an earlier post, but there is an app-based
utility, called RYO or "Roll Your Own" that allows you to change the text of
the silk screen buttons to other purposes. Below Names, when I click on the
word "Names" I have my Newton set to open the Connection app. Below Dates, I
open Action Names, below Extras-Pocket Money, below Undo, Notes, etc. It's a
wonderful utility for opening those frequent items. I believe it will also
create status bar buttons as well. Its only caveat is that when you want to
actually open the program to change the button definitions, you have to
reset the Newton without activating applications and then open RYO. I don't
know why this is, but it's a known bug.
