I'd go directly from PDF to NewtonBook otherwise it's not worth it...

Interesting suggestion but I would classify this in the desktop solution
since roughly the same tool is necessary to do a web service. If the desktop
solution is chosen and someone wants to offer such a service, I'll be happy
to help.

Right now desktop leads 4 to 3.
