Some years ago a friend of mine restored an old VW bug, '67 model.
One of the parts that needed replacement was the dynamo, usually
a simple matter, but not with this one. It turned out that it was one
of the few cars that were buildt right on the time when VW were moving
on from 6V system to 12V system, so it had to be a 6V dynamo that looked
exactly like a 6V dynamo in order to fit in. These were quite rare I
understood, nevertheless he managed to get one send up from VW in Hamburg.
If only one could get this kind of support from computer companies... sigh.
