  Thanks everyone. I made sure that the button in the battery area was
depressed with some cardboard, tape, and the batteries themselves and now
the unit reads 100% charged. The next task is to see if my unit will indeed
recharge my Radio Shack rechargeable 1000 mAH NiCd batteries.

  Actually earlier today I went ahead and matched up the correct Li backup
battery from Radio Shack and gave it a try in the MP120 and all seems fine!
