By removing the card you do an uninstallation of the programms. The NOS does
in principle run all pkgs as soon as they are transferred to it. If you have
only 175kB free heap it simply means that you've running 40 or more apps
running but not with an active window. Your best bet is to freeze them and
thus have them installed but not running. DashBoard offers a nice mean to
have applications frozen on your machine and just unfreeze them if you start
them and re-freeze them after you closed. There're other programs too which
offer similar functionality, but I don't know any yet. DashBoard would also
let you writing scripts which freeze and thaw groups of packages, which I'm
using to reconfigure my MP2100 to whatever I need. This saves a lot of heap
mem which you might need to avoid crashes of memory hungry applications
(like internet pkgs).
