Well last night I sent a file from my WinXP laptop to my Newton using
the Obex transport demo. Because it was the demo I couldn't save it or
anything, but it worked, and the Newton properly advertises itself. So,
while it needs some tweaking it's pretty much there so I'm not going to
bother to re-invent the wheel.

What I'm thinking now, is something like I saw in some weird Xerox movie
about their concepts for a PDA: You walk up to a device and get your
data.
What if we used our 802.11b networks to do a "send and receive" of
notes. If connected to a network, the Newton could look for another peer
and send it's notes (eventually pkgs) to the other device, and then
receive notes from the other device. Kind of like some sort of
peer-to-peer app. Or does e-mail meet all those needs? (I haven't got my
WaveLAN card yet, but I have a rockin' 802.11b network)

I'm open to ideas. This'll be the first time I'm not in school for...
ever so I want to do something!!

Jonathan

Jon - there is a program called QuickBeam that will let you beam things
via IrOBEX on a Windows PC. I recently tried it out with my laptop,
worked fine. Go here: (long link)

red-Software

and grab the last file listed (Quick Beam Suite for Windows 9.x (3.5)).
Heed the licence warning...
