Yesterday I got my second trial unit of a globetrotter (the first one did not
work neither in a win2k laptop nor in the newton).
1) SIM Card with GPRS support (www.sunrise.ch) inserted, PIN deactivated
2) Inserted it in my MP2.1k left card slot
3) Created a NIE 2.0 Setting (Serial, PPP, Server, DNS, Login Script (display
script activity checked)
4) When I dial a GPRS connection, the blue LED on the globetrotter goes on,
but: nothing happens, time out. In the window that displays the login script
activity all the AT commands that are sent to the globetrotter do not echo any
answer from the globetrotter card...(if I do the same with a option firstfone
it does).
I will try again with different login scripts/pauses and PT100/at-commands to
verify wether I get any answer from the globetrotter or not - IMHO it should,
as it is AT-command compatible. If this does not work, I would say the
globetrotter does not work with newtons (possibly as it is a 3v card, but then,
why does the blue led switch on when "dialing"?).
Addendum to 3): The script is:
Pause 5
Send AT&F
Send ¶
Pause 5
Send AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet"
Send ¶
Pause 5
Send ATDT*99***1#
Send ¶
Wait for CONNECT
Done
Note: If I "dial" a gprs connection with my T68i the script can be shorter as
one uses the T68i's internal gprs internet setup:
Send ATDT*98*1#
Send ¶
Wait For CONNECT
Done
