I actually sent an e-mail to Al Muniz last night and got a most gracious
response. He said that their intention was in no way to offend the
Newton community. He also said that the author of the article used their
most contraversial ideas in his work.
He said he was going to get back to me with a more detailed response to
my questions ( I had inquired about the scientific data they collected
and how it backs up the statements made in the article). However I
already feel better about the issue, and am inclined as well to believe
that the journalist might have taken some of their work slightly out of
context.
