I just checked out the Alphasmart Dana thanks to the posting and
discussion on this list, and am seriously considering replacing the
eMates I give my employees to use with Danas. I'm very reminded of the
eMate in the design, and the sync ability and compatibility with both
Mac and Windows platforms makes it a feasible replacement for the
eMates. I have been struggling to keep my staff supplied with eMates as
the majority of them have suffered the screen/ribbon problem. I have a
shelf full of broken ones in my office. I love the Newton/eMate platform
and have used it in my business since prior to it's discontinuance. Up
to now I haven't really found anything that I considered replacing them
with. I'm putting this on the list because I would welcome
discussion/feedback from the list about this decision. I end up
investing $200 plus for an eMate & flash card, so the $400 price doesn't
look bad. I've never had any extensive experience with Palm OS devices,
but employees who have used Palms & Newtons definitely appreciate the
Newton as a real computer vs. device. The Dana looks to be touted as a
replacement for a laptop vs. just another device. What do you think????
