Everyone:
I guess the cat's out of the bag now :)
Yes, I've been spending some sleepless nights working on a revision to my
nHTML application that I wrote over 5 years ago. I've been
consistently amazed and inspired by the quality and functionality of the
software that's been released following its "demise."
I don't know many original developers for the Newton who are still
working on new applications (other than Steve Weyer?). We may have
supplied the groundwork, but it's really people like Paul Guyot, Hiroshi,
Sean Luke, Eckhart Köppe, and company who should be commended. Coupled
with advancements in wireless and storage technology and a maturation of
Internet technologies and standards, the work from this second generation
of Newton developers has kept the Newton "relevant" today in the face of
new Palm devices, PocketPC clones, and smart phones.
Their work inspired me to pick up the development tools once again to
rework my ancient (5+ years) nHTML application. The new application is
going to make editing your text documents much easier. I'm working as fast
as I can on the project (hence the lack of sleep), and I'll post more
details soon on my web site and on the list.
