This is something that's been rattling around by brain since the
charter was suggested. Given how little trouble this list has had, I
don't see a real need to suddenly enforce rules because of one outbreak
of flames.

Explicitly setting rules won't keep trolls away, and it leads
to all sorts of meta-threads (like this one! :-) ) on whether some
thread or another is off-topic, or if someone is using unacceptable
language. In otherwords, it creates more noise on the list than it will
prevent. (not to mention more work for Victor.)

I think we all know the main purpose of this list, we all have a sense
of general netiquette, and we all now know not to bring up politics ;-)
Leave it at that.
