[NTLK] Any developers available to clean up Equate?

Hello fellow Newton users.

I have recently been in contact with WalletWare, asking if they would
donate their old Newton products. Apparently WalletWare still
sells/supports ExpensesPlus. However, I was told that WalleWare once tried
to give away Equate but was flooded by support requests so they quickly
pulled that deal.

Equate, for those of you unfamiliar with it, is a spreadsheet
program(Newton) + PC sync. tool to export/import Excel files.

With a few more inquiries to WalletWare, they have agreed to give their
source to a developer who might clean it up and re-release it for free.
Essentially the PC/Mac connectivity needs to be re-implemented, and I
suspect small features here and there could be added to Equate. As I
understand it, the source to the Newton program and the PC sync. tools are
part of this "deal".

These are WalletWare's requirements:

"
The stipulation would be that the developer would have to make the
16-bit version of the Windows software 32-bit compatible, and make it work
with Excel 98 and Excel 2002. On the Mac side, the developer would have
to make it OS X compatible (carbonize the software). If someone were to
agree to making these changes in exchange for primary ownership of the
software, I'm certainly open to this. And this person would have to learn
the software without any intervention or assistance from us.
"

So, the question is, are there any takers?

If you're interested in *developing* the software as per their
requirements, then please contact **ME**, *DO NOT CONTACT WALLETWARE*

WalletWare is kind enough to make this gesture, so please only respond if
you're serious about this. I suspect that maybe two or three authors
working together could complete the cross-platform OS support. The end
results would also have to be free, in keeping with the spirit of this
deal.

Again, if you're interested, please contact me.

Vasant.
