I hve the 3cxe589et, just a bit newer then your card, it works great, I have
to use the 3c589 driver to get it to work, gut I find that driver works
wonderfully, and gves you more feed back then the regular one. I like
having the card slip that shows up when I insert it and it gives me the
option to select the card for appletalk.

I have one, and once I figured out it worked better with the 3C589
driver than the 3CX589DT driver, I was much happier. Some seem to
have this problem, others don't. Just thought I'd give you a heads
up.
