I believe it's necessary for this application that the connection be serial-
it's a standard practice to set a serial port to be the console on a unix
machine that doesn't have a monitor, allowing another computer or terminal
to be hooked up to it to control the boot process (this is before the
ethernet interface has been brought up).
I think I've heard of people using serial pcmcia cards with the Newton- you
could plug that into your box. Anybody on the list have experience with
this?
