Michael:

Under Classic in OS X, you can connect to the Newton for downloading
packages, performing backups, tranferring NewtonWorks documents, etc. I
am using an older (indigo) iBook and I connect using an ethernet card
and a crossover cable. You would be able to do the same with any OS X
iBook or Powerbook.
