Have you just tried to make a network connection? The
activity you describe is normal for my D-link card. I
pop the card in, the slip opens up, I say OK the slip
closes, the lights on the dongle blink then everything
is silent. When I open NetHopper, the ethernet card
slip pops up, I select OK, it makes the connection and
the dongle lights up. This is normal behaviour because
the card goes into standby mode to conserve power.
But first, make sure you have the required packages
installed on your Newt. You can see what you need by
going to my Newton page (follow the link in my
tagline). Look at the section titled Networking files.
