Just a side note. This weekend I introduced my 6 year old to the Newton. No,
she didn't put it in the cat bowl or use it as a door stop. She's had her
own iMac since she was three and is more computer smart than her first grade
teacher. Anyway, first I introduced her to battleship, then to newtopoly.
The games didn't hold her attention nearly as much as the handwriting
recognition and exploring some of the other programs. "Look, when I write
something here, it appears up there nice and neat". She explored it for
hours. Needless to say, I've got an older back-up unit (no back clips, no
ser-001 chip) I think I'll pass on to her. Maybe she'll be able to help me
learn programming, or maybe her generation will truly revive the promise.
