I use a 33.6 X-Jack Megahertz. I know it's a cliche, but your best bet for a
VERY cheap PCmCIA modem is still probably E-bay.

On a side note, I mentioned earlier, but I don't think anyone responded: a
store local to me has Epson ethernet cards for 9 bucks, new in the box and
sealed. If someone wants to try to hack an existing driver or create a new
driver, I'd be happy to pick some up for folks.

Subject: [NTLK] Cheap modems?

Hi all.

In the same spirit as the wonderful tip about the XJack LAN cards, I was
wondering if anyone knows of a good source for a cheap modem for my
newton? I've looked around, but given that there are so many different
models available, it's a bit confusing trying to settle on one....

Thanks!
Scott
