Heh. I actually proposed a similar thing as a working solution to a friend
some years ago, when he was looking for an "open office" implementation
(it was a big fad in the late nineties, for those who still remember them
days of yore).

Only I told him to get GridPads, equip them with smallish silicon hard
drives (aka PC cards) and wireless LAN cards. The Grids ran Go; at the
time, the MP 2k hadn't yet emerged and the earlier MP's seemed to small to
accomodate office work.

This would have given him an office where the workers always had their
workspace with them.

Obviously, it was a great idea, until he learned about the cost...

Still, with a more stow-able keyboard(*) and a fully functional wireless
connection, I wonder if the MP2k couldn't supply most office drone's
needs, even today.

(*) A great idea would be a keyboard that fitted in the MP2k's lid. Isn't
there a company out there that produces a foldable Palm keyboard made out
of fabric? And earlier today I read about one of those CeBit gismo's: a
projected keyboard! It's a matchbox-sized - well - box, that projects an
image of a keyboard on any horizontal surface. Sensors in the box register
finger movement as you press the projected keys. How about connecting that
to your Newt, eh?
