Hello Doctor... We'll get to the bottom of this.

First: Is WEP encryption activated on the AirPort base station? If it is, you will probably have to have the AirPort Admin Utility generate a WEP key to enter into your PC client. (Note: This 'key' is not the same as the password you enter in the utility, it's a hexadecimal string.) In the OS X version of the AirPort utility, there is an icon in the toolbar once you've opened up your base station config labeled "Password". When you click on it, the program will display the WEP key. You then enter that into your PC client. If your OEM Lucent client is the same as mine, you edit your profile then in the "encryption" tab, enter the key. It will then work (if that was the problem).
