well, i just completed an eBay auction with GEM Enterprises.. and i'm very happy with the outcome..

i had bid on an outer casing for a 2000.. the pictured case was of average wear.. i ended up paying 25.00 for the case minus shipping.. all in all, using BidPay, it cost 39.00 total..

i just got it from the FedEx Ground guy.. the shipping took 5 days.. slow.. and the box looked like it was semi-crushed.. i wasn't expecting too much.. maybe it would be broken..

i opened the package, and it was bubblewrapped well.. loose inside the box (could have used paper to secure it better), but it looked fine.. i unwrapped it, and looked at the casing.. it shows very, very minor wear.. and had a speaker taped inside it.. cool.. but then i noticed that it wasn't the case i had bid for.. it was a 2100 casing.. EXACTLY what i had been looking for.. my 2100u's case was damaged on a trip to Detroit.. the little tab area under the flip-lid release had broken off.. i reglued it back on, but it was broken.. in fact, the case was broken when i received my 2100u a few years ago from a friend.. the sockets that hold the flip lid were broken.. and the lid would flop around inside the sockets.. i've always been spooked that the tabs on the flip lid would break off..

but, now, i've finally got the casing that i've wanted.. it's in very, very good condition.. i am very happy with GEM Enterprises.. they were prompt with communications, and sent a better product than what i had bid upon..

i know other list-members have had seemingly bad dealings with GEM in the past.. i really think that when i do decide to get another 2100, i am going to get one from GEM..

just my 2 cents on the GEM thing..

i'm happy, dammit..

Jim.
