If I understand David correctly, the Newton isn't dead, it just does not
respond to the reset button. For me this sounds like a dead reset switch.
Newtons that were powered by the wrong adapter usually won't even
power up anymore.

By the way, David: You couldn't have done a hard reset as for doing
so (according to Apple's User's Manual) you need the reset button.
