i use the same setup - a farallon ethernet (etherwave and ethermac) card and
a silver lucent WLAN card (HP invent branded).
you can safely use both without freezing the drivers, but make sure to
choose the correct drivers when connecting. ive heard that someone on the
list fried a silver card bu using the farallon drivers. (that is,
accidentally using a location that has a etherned connection in the owner
info instead of WLAN connection.)
i cant confirm this myself, since it could turn out somewhat costly, but
what i know for sure, is that ive been using both drivers and cards for
about a year now, without freezing drivers. i just pop out the WLAN card and
insert the ethernet card whenever i need it. on the other hand, ive barely
used the ethernet card since i got my base station at home.
since there is still so much uncertainty with the WLAN drivers, i think
hiroshi should have waited with charging for the software. for example, we
dont know why certain cards cause problems and which ones they are. for
example, i use a 3.3V trotter GPRS/GSM card even though hiroshi says 3.3V
should fry the newt.
however, you should be safe with your current config.
