It may seem a bit odd; but it held your attention, didn't it?

My wife was telling me about an eBay member whose auctions she used to
follow; each of them would have some long and entertaining story about
the seller's family. There was a whole series of them, and my wife (and
probably quite a few other people) looked at each auction to read them
all, even if she wasn't interested in buying.

All the world loves an advertising gimmick.
