Hello list members!

I have been working up in the YK for the summer and its been hard keeping up to date with all the happenings on the list and in the Newton community in general, however it seems some very exciting developments are taking place. Most recently I read a wired news article on the apple Newton and how our following is actually growing!! Very exciting indeed.

I would also like to take this opportunity to announce the creation of an official repair service for the Apple Newton 2000/2100 models. I have been in contact with apple Canada for the past year trying to obtain whatever spare Newton repair service parts so as to start my own repair service. After much negotiation ive finally managed to do this.

It seems that many of the Newton's on ebay recently have had problems such as missing eject switches for the pcmcia ports, scratches on screen, cosmetic damage etc.

I am now able to fix any problem that you have with your Newton at a fraction of the price that apple Canada was charging. The repair cost will be on a case by case basis depending on what problems you are having and it will be possible for me to just send service parts to those that are technically inclined to install these parts themselves.

I am truly hoping to have support from the community as this has been a fairly substantial investment on my part. I truly believe in the many Newton users across the world and that I will not be let down.

Please email me with any questions that you may have.

Best regards to all
Ferdi

PS i am also looking for some web savvy newton users out there to help me in the creation of a newton reapair services website. Depending on how much time goes into the creation of the site i will reward those that help with free backlight installation, speed implants etc.
