I think its to add IRDA to the Mac itself, not all Macs came with IRDA.
With this you can use IRDA to Sync, backup and install without the need
to physically connect the Newt to Ethernet, serial, etc...

Subject: [NTLK] Newton IRDA Dongle?

Hi guys,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3018365303&category=2

Can anyone confirm what this is? I've never heard of this Newton
IRDA dongle. Besides, the Newton already has an IRDA port so what good
is this anyway? Or maybe this gives Macs an IRDA port if it didn't have
one to begin with, to let it communicate with the Newt. Any ifo would be

cool.

Later,
Jonathan
