Karl,

I have a D Link wireless router too, and it does have a firewall. I've had to open ports up on it myself. From the configure screen in your web browser, choose the "Advanced" link and you can set ports to open from there. I've noticed that their "Help" is way more complete than their documentation, so consult that link if you're not sure what to do.
