Joking aside, I believe the USB standard was developed by Intel (which
is why they're pushing USB 2.0 as a replacement for FireWire...a
technology that Apple *did* invent.) Apple was just the first to adopt
the technology (in the iMac, I think) and give it widespread
distribution.
