I've encountered the exact same issues.

I installed the components above last week from the very latest
packages. Previously I had an older version of Courier on my MP2k which
worked fine, but I wanted to try the latest version. I'm now back to
NetHopper.

Soft reset, yes.

I think there maybe an issue with Courier either looking for the wrong
version number or NHttpLib having the wrong version number internally.
