as long as the proper thermistor is used, the
modded pack should work as well as original packs. the only risk is that one could stick alkalines in it and blow up stuff.
as a simple mod though, easier than rebuilding a pack.

How risky is this procedure, both in terms of possibly rendering the battery cage FUBAR, and in terms of the cells safely charging inside the Newt without worry of overheating, etc.?
